Emerald Club (base): what you get from enrollment
Base membership unlocks the two things that define National's experience: the Emerald Aisle and no counter stop. At participating US and Canada airports — more than 60 locations — you walk past the service desk to a dedicated lot and choose any car midsize or above, paying whatever midsize rate you booked. Executive: what changes at the middle tier
Executive status unlocks at 12 paid rentals or 40 paid rental days in a calendar year — whichever comes first. The Aisle moves up a class. Executive Elite: the top tier

Five credits now equal a free day instead of six, and free days redeem on any car class with no blackout dates. That combination — faster accumulation and no class restriction on redemption — is the most material financial benefit of reaching Elite. The vehicle guarantee also changes character. At Executive, you're guaranteed an upgrade when you book full-size through luxury. What counts as a qualifying rental

National counts both rental count and rental days toward status, and whichever threshold you hit first triggers the upgrade. Twelve short trips qualify the same as four long trips totalling 40 days.
